I gave you (conveyed, helped you understand) the most important thing first [the foundations of faith], what I myself had personally received:
That the Anointed One (Messiah, Christ) died for our sins,
just as the Scriptures foretold. [Isa wrote about this 700 years before Jesus was born, see Isa. 53:3–6.]
