Ephesians 6:13

[During his two-year imprisonment in Rom, Paul was chained to a Roman soldier in four-hour shifts, see Phil. 1:13-14. Paul now uses the Roman soldier's equipment to illustrate the spiritual battle every believer faces.]
Therefore [because you are in a spiritual battle, verse 12], put on (take up; to carry and use) the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to resist on the evil day [a period of danger, demonic evil, or great temptations], and having done everything, to stand [as victors in the battle].
