First letter to Timothy 4:14

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you through prophecy when the elders laid their hands on you.
[The laying on of hands was a way of setting someone apart for service, see 1 Tim. 1:18; 5:22; 2 Tim. 1:6; Acts 6:6. An example of this is found in Acts 13:1–3. The gift may be leadership, discernment, or perhaps evangelism, see 2 Tim. 4:5, 8; Eph. 4:11.]
