[The exhortation in verse 8 also applies to wealthy women who had their own households:]
If a believing woman has widows in her household, she should take care of them and not burden the church, so that it can take care of those who are truly widows.
[An example of a woman who took care of widows was Dorcas in Joppa, see Acts 9:36, 39. Another example of a wealthy woman is Lydia, who came from the city of Thyatira, only ten miles from Ephesus, see Acts 16:14.]
