First Samuel 1:2

And he had two wives, one named Hannah [Hebr. Channah, from Hebr. chanan, meaning "grace"] and the other named Penina [meaning "jewel"], and Penina had children but Hannah had no children.
[The first polygamist mentioned in the Bible is Lamech (in the sixth generation from Adam and a descendant of Cain, the brother murderer) who boasted about killing a man, see Gen. 4:19–24. God's original plan was for one man and one woman to be married, see Gen. 2:24; Mark 10:2–9; Eph. 5:22–23; 1 Tim. 3:2; Titus 1:6. A king should not take many wives, see Deut. 17:14–20; 1 Kings 11:3–4. Although the Bible does not say "it was wrong" on every occasion, each example shows the jealousy and all the problems that polygamy brings, see Gen. 16:3; 2 Sam. 12:10.]
