Now there was a man in Benjamin whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a valiant (honorable, strong) man.
Now Kish, Saul's father, had lost his donkeys, and Kish said to Saul, his son, "Take one of your servants with you and go and look for the donkeys."

Ner was the father of Kish, Kish was the father of Saul, and Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Avinadav, and Eshbaal [Ish-Boshet, see ].
Ner was the father of Kish, Kish was the father of Saul, and Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.
These were the ones who came to David at Ziklag while he was hiding from Saul, the son of Kish. They were among the heroes who helped him during the war.
And likewise all that the seer Samuel and Saul, son of Kish, and Abner, son of Ner, and Joab, son of Zeruiah, had consecrated. Everyone who consecrated anything left it in the care of Shelomith and his brothers.
They asked for a king, and God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for a period of 40 years.
