Aaron married Elisheva, daughter of Amminadav and sister of Nachshon, and she bore him:
Nadav and Avihu,
Elazar and Itamar.
Elazar, Aaron's son, married one of Putiel's daughters, and she bore him:
Pinchas.
These were the heads of the Levitical families, family by family.
Take Aaron, your [elder] brother, to be close to you, and his sons with him, from among the sons of Israel, to serve me as priests: Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu [who offered strange fire, see ], Elazar [who took over the priesthood after Aaron, see ] and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron.
And Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons, "Do not let your hair be loose [do not remove your head covering; do not let your hair be unkempt—do not show outward signs of mourning] and do not tear your clothes, lest you die and the wrath come upon all the people, but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, mourn the fire [that killed Nadab and Abihu] that the Lord (Yahweh) kindled.
And Moses spoke to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons who were left: "Take the grain offering that remains of the Lord's (Yahweh's) burnt offering and eat it without leaven beside the altar, for it is most holy.
Moses inquired carefully (Hebr. darash darash – literally: "questioning asked," which reinforces the search for) about the sin offering goat [; ; ], but behold, it was burned.
[The words darash darash are the mathematical center of all Hebrew words in the Torah (the five books of Moses). It is interesting that there are a total of 77 double words in the Torah, such as "Abraham, Abraham" () and "Noah, Noah" (). Of these 77 double words, the 39th and middle one is darash, darash right here. It is more than a coincidence that in the middle of all 304,805 words in the five Torah scrolls, the two words (words number 152,402 and 152,403) are also a double word, which in turn is the middle one of all 77 double words! Furthermore, this verse is about Moses carefully searching for the scapegoat, which points to the central question—who can reconcile us with God? John the Baptist (the greatest prophet, see ) gives the answer: "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world," see .]
Then Moses became angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's remaining sons, and said:
And these are the names of Aaron's sons: Nadab, the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
And Nadab and Abihu died before the Lord (Yahweh) when they offered strange fire before the Lord (Yahweh) in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no sons. And Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priesthood in the presence of their father Aaron.
Elazar, son of Aaron, the priest, is the head of the other leaders among the Levites and has primary responsibility for those who keep (take care of, guard, protect) the affairs of the sanctuary.
Elazar, the son of Aaron the priest, is responsible for the oil for the light bearer [lamp oil], and the sweet incense, and the unbroken food offering (showbread) and the anointing oil; he is responsible for the entire tabernacle and everything in it, both the sanctuary and its furniture."
Tell Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, to gather up the censers from the fire and scatter the ashes outside, for they have been consecrated,
And the priest Eleazar took the bronze censers with which they had offered and beat them out as a covering for the altar,
And you shall give her to the priest Elazar, and she shall be taken outside the camp and slaughtered before him.
And the priest Elazar [Aaron's son, see ] shall take some of her blood with his finger and sprinkle it seven times toward the entrance of the tent of meeting (literally: face).
[So from the eastern area, the priest would sprinkle in a westerly direction, toward the altar, where the blood was normally poured out or sprinkled. The repetition seven times speaks of perfection. Several other sacrifices, such as the Day of Atonement, have the same repetition, see .]
Take Aaron and his son Eleazar and rev them up Mount Hor.
And take off Aaron's garments and put them on his son Eleazar. And Aaron shall be gathered to his people and shall die there."
And Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar. And Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. And Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
And when Phinehas [meaning "dark-skinned" in Egyptian, later became the high priest of the people, see and ; ; ], son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from the midst of the congregation and took a spear in his hand.
Pinchas, son of Elazar, son of Aaron the priest, has turned away my wrath from the sons of Israel when he was zealous (jealous) for my sake among them, so that I did not consume the sons of Israel in my zeal (jealousy).
And it came to pass after the plague [in chapter 25 with idolatry] that the Lord (Yahweh) spoke to Moses and to Eleazar, the priest Aaron's son, saying:
And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke to them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying:
And to Aaron were born
Nadab and Abihu,
Elazar and Ithamar. []
These were the ones counted by Moses and the priest Eleazar, who counted the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, near Jericho.
And they stood before Moses and before the priest Eleazar and before the leaders and the whole assembly, at the entrance to the tent of meeting, and said:
and set him before Eleazar the priest and before the whole assembly, and commission him in their sight.
And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord (Yahweh). At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation."
And Moses did as the Lord (Yahweh) commanded him, and he took Joshua and set him before the priest Eleazar and before the whole assembly.
And Moses sent them to battle, 1,000 from each tribe, and Phinehas, son of the priest Eleazar, to battle with the holy objects and the trumpet for battle signals in his hand.
And they brought the captives and the spoil and the spoiled things to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the assembly of the sons of Israel, to the camp at the plains of Moab, which is by the Jordan opposite Jericho.
And Moses and Eleazar the priest and the leaders of the assembly went out to meet them outside the camp.
And the priest Elazar said to all the warriors who had gone out to battle: "This is the ordinance of the teaching (instructions, Torah) that the Lord (Yahweh) has commanded Moses.
"Take all the spoils that were taken, both men and livestock, you and the priest Elazar and the heads of the fathers' houses in the congregation,
Take it from their half and give it to the priest Elazar, as a separate portion for the Lord (Yahweh).
And Moses and the priest Eleazar did as the Lord (Yahweh) commanded Moses.
Moses gave the tribute, the Lord's (Yahweh's) separate portion, to the priest Eleazar, as the Lord (Yahweh) had commanded Moses.
And Moses and the priest Eleazar took the gold from them and all the adorned jewels.
And Moses and the priest Eleazar took the gold from the leaders of thousands and the leaders of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting as a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord (Yahweh).
And the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben came and spoke to Moses and the priest Eleazar and the leaders of the congregation, saying
Moses gave clear orders about them to the priest Eleazar and to Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' houses among the tribes of the sons of Israel.
These are the names of the men who shall take possession of the land for you: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun.
And the sons of Israel journeyed from Beeroth-Benjaakan to Mosera, where Aaron died and where he was buried. And his son Eleazar served as priest in his place.
And this is the inheritance which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, gave unto them.
And they came near before the priest Eleazar and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the leaders, and said, "The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brothers." Therefore, according to the command of the Lord, he gave them an inheritance among their father's brothers.
These are the inheritance portions that Eleazar the priest and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the leaders of the tribes of the sons of Israel, the heads of their fathers' houses, distributed as inheritance in Shiloh before the Lord (Yahweh), at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Thus they finished dividing the land.
The leaders of the fathers' houses of the tribe of Levi came near the priest Eleazar and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the leaders of the fathers' houses of the sons of Israel,
And the sons of Israel sent Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, to the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half-tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead,
And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, said to the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh: "Today we know (we are intimately acquainted with) that the Lord (Yahweh) is in our midst, because you have not been treacherous toward the Lord (Yahweh), and have not delivered the sons of Israel to fall away from the hand of the Lord (Yahweh)."
And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, returned from the sons of Reuben and from the sons of Gad out of the land of Gilead to the land of Canaan to the sons of Israel, and brought word.
And Eleazar, Aaron's son, died, and they buried him on the hill of his son Phinehas, which had been given to him in the hill country of Ephraim.
And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days and said, "Shall I go out again to battle against the sons of Benjamin, my brother, or shall I cease?" The Lord answered, "Go up, for tomorrow I will give him into your hand."
The children of Amram were Aaron, Moses, and Miriam.
The sons of Aaron were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Elazar became the father of Phinehas, and Phinehas became the father of Abishua.
These are the descendants of Aaron: his son was Eleazar, whose son was Phinehas, whose son was Abishua,
Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, had previously been prince over them—may the Lord be with him!
The sons of Aaron had the following divisions:
The sons of Aaron were Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
But Nadab and Abihu died [] before their father, and they had no sons. So only Eleazar and Ithamar became priests.
David, together with Zadok, of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech, of the sons of Ithamar, divided them into groups according to the order in which they were to serve.
Since the sons of Eleazar were more numerous than the sons of Ithamar, they were divided so that the sons of Eleazar had sixteen heads of their families and the sons of Ithamar had eight heads of their families.
They were divided by lot, the former as well as the latter, since the leaders of the sanctuary and the leaders of God were both from the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar.
Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel, the scribe, of the tribe of Levi, recorded them in the presence of the king, the leaders, the priest Zadok, and Ahimelech, the son of Abiathar, and in the presence of the heads of the families of the priests and the Levites. The lots were cast alternately for the families of Eleazar and for the families of Ithamar.

On the fourth day, the silver, gold, and vessels were weighed in the house of our God (Elohim), in the hands of Meremoth, son of Uriah, the priest, and with him was Elazar, son of Pinchas, and with them were Jozabad, son of Jeshoa, and Noadiah, son of Binnoj, the Levite.
