And this I pray, that the love of you, yet more and more may abound in knowledge and in all discernment,

for to approve you the things being excellent, so that you may be pure and blameless unto [the] day of Christ,

To know now you, I want, brothers, that the things concerning me, really to [the] advancement of the gospel have turned out,

and most of the brothers, in [the] Lord already trusting by the chains of me, more abundantly to dare fearlessly the word to speak.

Some indeed even from envy and strife, some however also from goodwill Christ are proclaiming —

already knowing

I am appointed;;

the [ones] indeed out of love, already knowing that for defense of the gospel I am appointed;

ἐριθείας
selfish ambition

καταγγέλλουσιν
are proclaiming,,

supposing

θλῖψιν
tribulation
thlipsin
the [ones] however out of selfish ambition Christ are proclaiming, not purely, supposing tribulation to add to the chains of me.

in truth,,

καταγγέλλεται,
is proclaimed..

χαρήσομαι.
I will rejoice..
charesomai.
What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretext or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. And in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice.

I know for that this for me will turn out to deliverance through your prayer and [the] provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

I will be ashamed,,

μεγαλυνθήσεται
will be magnified

θανάτου.¶

according to the earnest expectation and hope of me that in nothing I will be ashamed, but in all boldness, as always also now, will be magnified Christ in the body of me, whether by life or by death.

To me for to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.

If [I am] however to live in flesh, this for me [is the] fruit of labor. And what will I choose? Not I know!

I am pressed now between the two, the desire having for [myself] to depart and with Christ to be, very much for more better;

[is] more necessary

but to remain in the flesh [is] more necessary for the sake of you.

πεποιθὼς
having been persuaded of,,

And this having been persuaded of, I know that I will remain and will continue with all of you for your progress and joy of the faith,

so that the boasting of you may abound to Christ Jesus in me through my coming again to you.

Only worthily of the gospel of Christ do conduct yourselves, so that whether having come and having seen you, or being absent, I shall hear the things concerning you, that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,

it has been granted

For to you it has been granted concerning Christ, not only in Him to believe, but also concerning Him to suffer,
